hi, it`s Mat ! Size of Japan is almost same of Thailand but its also long from North to South. Vinegar and Rice came from different parts of Asia to Japan. Like Vinegar from China and rice from Korea. ... I think. Anyways, sushi is not raw fish at all, its the vinegared rice made from seaweed stock, salt and sugar as the vinegar is heated up and melts the salt and sugar. Your photo is Chirashizushi in Japanese, Chirashi-Sushi. Chirashi means spread out. Newspaper ads or inserts are also called Chirashi because they are used to be spread out to the public of informations. Nigirizushi which are more common types of sushi with the slices of fishes or other delicacies on top are actually gripped very gently. Nigiri means, the grip. However, if you gripped the sushi rice, you would be damaging the whole cooking. If 1 piece of rice was broken or smashed, you are not an excellent sushi chef ! Because, Japan is surrounded by the sea, it is common to find seafoods but if you go to areas on the mountains, you will find sushi made from bamboo and herbs. Recent sushi has slices or roast ducks and sometimes even deer meat. Sushi has really changed over the years. There are also Makizushi and Battera or Oshizushi also. There are over 10 types that I know but dont be surprized to find out even more. Also remember that eating raw fish, this tradition came from China and then, eating seafoods alive, this came from Korea.

have fun ! just please dont try eating humans alive, hahahahhaaa
